Las Vegas: Feel the Trip Las Vegas is all about glamour for its own sake and you will always feel to be on a trip there. Besides being the largest city in the state of Nevada-USA, Las Vegas is more popular as Sin City and the entertainment capital of the world. Las Vegas an overview People know Las Vegas for its fine dining, great gambling places, major resorts and full of entertainment. This should never be understood by the information provided that Vegas don’t have a serious side – billions are at stake all the time on tables and mega-resorts. At the same time it is growing fast as most popular retirement and family city. Las Vegas was established in 1905 but officially became city in the year 1911. Las Vegas is the 28th most populous city in USA with an estimated population of 603,093 as of 2008. The estimated population of Las Vegas metropolitan area as of 2007 was 1,836,333. Understanding the Geography & Climate Las Vegas is situated on the arid desert; the surrounding environment is dominated by desert vegetation and wild life. The city is in a basin surrounded by dry mountains and the Spring Mountains lie to the west side of the city. City is at 2030 feet or 620 meters height from the sea level. Not much to discuss the climate of the city is desert climate, you can enjoy the abundant sunlight year-round and has more than 300 sunshine days every year, with very less rainfall. In summer temperature can go up to 38° C or 100° F and during winter it can dip to 0° C or 32° F. If you are visiting Vegas during winters be cautious of snow fall, rare but possible during December. Major Attraction in City The major attractions in Las Vegas are the casinos from a long time. All the famous casino hotels can be found on Las Vergas Boulevard or well known as Las Vegas Strip. Advised sights to see while in Vegas are: A. Bellagio casino: Inside the casino you can see an amazing flower garden, fine art gallery and you can have finest buffet. During evening the fountains of the Bellagio perform a magnificent display set to the music in every 15-20 minutes. B. Flamingo Garden: Popular garden for flamingo and other exotic birds. C. MGM Grand Lion Habitat: Worth to visit for a closer look of Lions. D. Mirage Hotel: In front of casino almost every hour in the evening you can see volcano eruption in a terrific light show. E. Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay Hotel: Highlight is a walk through the transparent tunnel with sharks, sea turtles and fish on all sides. F. Star Trek Museum: Two well themed attractions with simulator rides and live actors in trek costumes. Walk through museum serves as the queue to the attraction. G.
