This family of highly configurable digital power step-down controllers more intelligently manage today’s power systems with 4 independent digitalcontrol loops while integrating an on-board power LDO. These power system controllers are fully addressable and configurable via an I²C interface for monitoring, control and management of DC to DC point of load power conversions.. The XRP7708 is a quad-output pulse-width modulated (PWM) step-down DC-DC controller with a built-in LDO for standby power and GPIOs. The device provides a complete power management solution in one IC and is fully programmable via an I2C serial interface. Independent Digital Pulse Width Modulator (DPWM) channels regulate output voltages and provide all required protection functions such as current limiting and over-voltage protection. Each output voltage can be programmed from 0.9V to 5.1V without the need of an external voltage divider. The wide range of the programmable DPWM switching frequency (from 300 KHz to 1.5MHz) enables the user to optimize between efficiency and component size. Input voltage range is from 6.5V to 20V. Two controllers support a load of up to 5A, while the other two controllers support up to 8A. I2C bus interface is provided to program the IC as well as to communicate with the host for fault reporting and handling, power rail parameters monitoring, etc. The device offers a complete solution for soft-start and soft-stop. The startup delay and ramp of each PWM regulator can be independently controlled. The device can start up a pre-biased PWM channel without causing large negative inductor current. Operating from a standard lithium-ion battery, the XRP6840 provides up to 4.3A of programmable Flash LED current and up to 600mA and 5.6V of programmable supercapacitor charging current and voltage. Architectured around a 2.4MHz tri-mode 1x, 1.5x and 2x charge pump, the XRP6840 charges the stacked supercapacitor to the programmed output voltage with no more than 600mA drawn from the battery. While charging, an internal active balance circuitry insures matching of the stacked capacitors’ voltages. A standard 2-line I2C serial interface allows the dynamic programming of LED currents in torch and flash modes, flash timeout, channel enable, gain control, capacitor charge voltage, and enable. The XRP6840 comes in a 2 and 3 channel version supporting respectively 440mA/2.15A per channel and 300mA/1.45A in torch/flash modes. The flexibility designed into the XRP6840 allows it to return the energy stored in the supercapacitor back to the main supply. This feature is useful if a low battery level is detected and extra energy is required to properly shut down the sytem or for surge power requirements. Bidirectional high side currents and bipolar voltage differences are correctly handled by the four-quadrant multiplier and push-pull output stage, which allows the LT2940 to indicate forward and reverse power flow. An integrated comparator with inverting and noninverting opencollector outputs makes the LT2940 a complete power level monitor. In addition, an output current proportional to the sensed high side current allows current monitoring. The current mode outputs make scaling, filtering and time integration as simple as selecting external resistors and/or capacitors. The device operates either with a common input supply or independent input supplies for each channel, over an input voltage range of 1.8V to 20V. Each output supplies up to 500mA of output current with a typical dropout voltage of 300mV. Quiescent current is well controlled in dropout. With an external 10nF bypass capacitor, output noise is only 20µVRMS over a 10Hz to 100kHz bandwidth. Designed for use in battery-powered systems, the low 55µA quiescent current per channel makes it an ideal choice. In shutdown, quiescent current drops to less than 1µA. Shutdown control is independent for each channel, allowing for flexible power management. The LT3029 optimizes stability and transient response with low ESR ceramic output capacitors, requiring a minimum of only 3.3µF. The regulator does not require the addition of ESR, as is common with other regulators. An excellent choice for battery-powered “keep alive” systems that require optimum run time Internal circuitry provides reverse-battery protection, reverse input–to–output protection, current limiting with foldback and thermal shutdown. The MIC22700 is optimized for highest efficiency, achieving more than 95% efficiency while still switching at 1MHz over a broad range. The device works with a small 1µH inductor and 100µF output capacitor. The ultra-high speed control loop keeps the output voltage within regulation even under extreme transient load swings commonly found in FPGAs and low voltage ASICs. The output voltage can be adjusted down to 0.7V to address all low voltage power needs. The MIC22700 offers a full range of sequencing and tracking options. The Enable/Delay pin combined with the Power Good/POR pin allows multiple outputs to be sequenced in any way during turn-on and turn-off. The RC (Ramp Control™) pin allows the device to be connected to another product in the MIC22xxx and/or MIC68xxx family, to keep the output voltages within a certain ΔV on start up. This device also includes zero-cross turn-on circuitry and is specified with a blocking voltage of 600VP. In addition, tightly controlled zero-cross circuitry ensures low noise switching of AC loads by minimizing the generation of transients. The optically coupled input and output circuits provide 3750Vrms of isolation and noise immunity between the control and load circuits. As a result, the CPC1966 is well suited for industrial environments where electromagnetic interference would disrupt the operation of plant facility communication and control systems. Available in the Power SIP package, the CPC1966 offers pin-to-pin compatibility with other solid state relays providing an easy upgrade path for existing designs. Development of Clare’s power relay products was founded on the blending of Clare’s traditional strengths in the design and manufacture of photovoltaic integrated circuits (ICs), leadframe design and multi-chip packaging with IXYS’ expertise in power MOSFETs, power packages and substrate technology. Optically coupled MOSFET technology is used to provide 3750 Vrms of input to output isolation and, as in all Clare solid state relays, the optically coupled output is controlled by a GaAIAs infrared LED. The CPC1966 AC/DC Power Relay is ideal for a variety of power applications including industrial controls, consumer appliances and medical equipment Additional Clare power relays are offered in the ISOPLUS-264 and the i4-PAC (self-isolated) packages. The i4-PAC combines an electrically isolated nonconductive exterior with low thermal impedance making it an ideal solution for power applications preferring a non-biased heat sink with superior thermal management properties and the ISOPLUS-264 is self-isolated. Clare’s unique, RoHS compliant, family of 1-Form-A high-power Solid State Relays (SSRs) delivers the industry’s highest power MOSFET-based SSRs. Applications include: Motor control, robotics, medical equipment, railroad and traffic controls, consumer appliances, industrial controls, and, test and measurement equipment, and they are certified to UL 508 Standard for Industrial Control Equipment.
