Students receiving this award may represent a variety of academic preparation levels and performance with federally documented financial need as the primary factor for consideration. Awards from this fund are at the discretion of Howard Payne University’s director of financial aid and are subject to available funding. Donors may establish a named endowment beginning with $15,000 or make a gift of any amount for the current year. Departmental Scholarships Scholarships may be established by naming a particular field of study as the priority for student awards. These scholarships are generally awarded by the various academic departments. Donors may establish a named endowment beginning with a minimum gift of $15,000 or make a gift of any amount to add to a current endowed fund. Scholarship examples might include a scholarship benefiting students with a specified major within one of the university’s six schools: Business, Christian Studies, Education, Humanities, Music and Fine Arts, or Science and Mathematics. “ I am the youngest of four children, and I love that Howard Payne provides scholarships to assist with attendance fees. The new facility will also include the Academy of Freedom. The $9.8 million, two-story building will serve as a key focal point of the campus, where visitors, prospective students and parents are greeted. Encompassing 26,964 square feet, the building will consist of two distinct areas that will house the Welcome Center and the Academy of Freedom. The Welcome Center will become the “entryway” to campus and information resource for prospective students and parents.
