MEMBERS OF CWRP CAME TO US WITH NO BRANDING OR MATERIALS WHAT-SO-EVER. SO, THEY NEEDED US TO CREATE THEIR IDENTITY, WEBSITE, FUNDING PROSPECTOUS, A CAMPAIGN, AND OTHER VARIOUS BUSINESS MATERIALS (BUSINESS CARDS, LETTERHEADS, MAILERS, STICKERS, ETC.). THEY WANTED US TO COMMUNICATE PROFESSIONALISM WITH INNOVATIVE DESIGN. The logo was designed to represent the positive impact that the project and it’s volunteers create in the central Wisconsin area, through sustainable living and working practices. The signature was created with the typeface ITC Officina Serif book & bold. The signature was fabricated so if the resiliency project expands out of the central Wisconsin area the identity will not change drastically. COLOR PALETTE PRIMARY COLOR PALETTE These colors have been chosen to best represent the Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project identity. Specific ink colors were selected from the Pantone ink formula system. CMYK, RGB, & HEX colors are also listed as references. Whenever possible, the primary color palette should be used, to insure recognizability. The secondary colors have been carefully chosen to complement the Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project primary colors. logo signature Pantone 383 C Pantone 383 C CMYK 20|0|100|19 RGB 178|187|30 HEX b2bb1e Pantone CMYK RGB HEX Pantone BLACK C Black C 0|13|49|98 20|16|6 141006 identity Figure 0.1 The primary identity mark of the Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project is shown above. The logo prints 70% of selected color, while the signature will print 100% of selected color. The clear space is equal to the width of the logo as indicated in the diagram. Please do not violate this area. (Figure 2.1) IDENTITY OPTIONS 1-COLOR IDENTITY When using a light background the choices in Figure 3.1 should be used. Figure 2.1 MINIMUM SIZE The minimum size represents the smallest version in which the signature remains legible. (Figure 2.2) minimum size: 1” across Figure 2.2 Figure 3.1 If the identity is to appear on a dark colored background, the white, reversed out identity must be used so to maintain the clarity of the identity. (Figure 3.2) Figure 3.2 02 03 FILE FORMATS IDENTITY OPTIONS 2-COLOR IDENTITY The identities in Figure 4.1 are the approved 2-color identities to be used on a light background. NECESSARY INFORMATION EPS EPS is a vector based format and is a file that is mainly used by other professional graphic designers. TIFF A TIFF file is a high resolution file and is mainly for print production. JPEG A JPEG is a standard screen/web image file format. It works great for emails & websites. PNG A PNG is a loss-less file format, which means it will not pixilate and lose the quality of the image. It has similar qualities as a JPEG, but a PNG allows to save a transparent background within the image. Figure 4.1 If the identity is to appear on a dark colored background, the white, reversed out signature must be used, however the logo may be changed. (Figure 4.2) *use sparingly COMPACT DISC (CD) The CD contains all of the identities mentioned in this document in all of the above file formats for the use of the Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project. The CD also contains the Graphic Identity Standards & Guidelines and the File Formats page in PDF form for future reference. (Figure 5.1) Figure 4.2 Figure 5.1 04 05 OFFICE NECESSARY ELEMENTS 1. BUSINESS CARDS The design approach we took for the buisness card, was to have it be a 2-color job and to be printed 1-sided. The option for 2-sided business cards would be more expenive, but would be a very nice option as well. Both options are shown within Figure 6.1. central wisconsin resiliency project 1900 w zinda drive stevens point, wisconsin 54481 715.252.7959 3. LETTERHEAD The letterhead follows the same design concept as the businesscard and return address labels, making the design very cohesive. 1900 w zinda drive | stevens point, wisconsin 54481 Figure 6.1 *to scale 11” 2. RETURN ADDRESS LABELS The return address labels were created using EcoFriendly White Return Address Labels by Avery. On one sheet there are 60 labels, which is a great economical choice for labels. (Figure 6.2) The actual return address labels are shown within Figure 6.3. .666” 1.75” 11” 8.5” 8.5” Figure 6.2 *not to scale Figure 6.3 *to scale Figure 7.1 *not to scale 06 07 WEB INFORMATION The website for the Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project was made to be simple and professional, yet still be client ready. We used Radiant CMS, which is a Content Management System (CMS). Because we used a CMS, the website instantly becomes user friendly, especially for people who do not know HTML. The ability for a blog and other interactions were all taken into consideration and implemented as well. The homepage (Figure 8.1) featured a full blog, upcoming events, the entire campaign, and a navigational menu. It was designed to be dynamic in a simple way, which would allow users to get a ton of information from the get go. When diverging from the homepage (Figure 9.1), one has three main navigational links to choose from: about, get involved, & donate. Once clicked, a sub-menu appears under the header. In the “get involved” link, for instance, a new sub-menu gives further options: home, overview, positions, tips, & contact. Because the website is organized this way, it remains extremely organized and easy to find your way. As can be seen, the left column of the website always remains the same, so important information is only a click away. Figure 8.1 CWRP | Home Page www.cwrp1.heroku.com CWRP | Get Involved www.cwrp1.heroku.com/involvement Figure 9.1 08 09 The MREA Program Development Assistant page describes a position that is available through the Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project. (Figure 10.1) Because each position had a significant amount of information that a person interested would have to read, the page is organized into several boxes which make everything easy to read and legible. Other pages use this same cohesive organizational system to ensure the website doesn’t stray from it’s design and always remain simple. *Although not all screen shots from the web are included here, the three in this book are a good representation of how the actual website appears like online. The website is fully functional and hosted at cwrp1.heroku.com for viewing purposes. The whole document only uses 3 pieces of 8.5” x 11” paper, with printing frontto-back on each sheet. The document was designed to have an open and inviting feeling, but to still have a professional look to it, as well. (Fig. 12.1) To give the funding prospectus an organic feel, we chose to hand bind the document. (Fig. 13.1) Another option would have been to saddle-stitch (with staples) the document Figure 12.1 2 page spreads from funding prospectus *not to scale 12 Figure 13.1 13 CAMPAIGN ABOUT The campaign for the Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project was entitled impact (passion, collaboration). It was all about choosing a resilient lifestyle and moving forward. The definition provided was “impact” is about the ongoing time and energy (passion) put into our community with the help of our partners & stakeholders (collaboration). We developed five strategies to spread the word and encourage others to continue their involvment with the organization. The campaign materials were all designed to catch the attention of others, whether they were aware of the organization or not. The possibility to choose between a handout or a postcard within one design is very valuable and worthwhile. BUTTONS We created 6 different design variations for buttons (Figure 19.1) that could be worn by members of the Central Wisconsin Resiliency Prioject or their valuable volunteers. The buttons (Figures 19.219.3) were designed to be informational at first glance. They work great to get the word out about CWRP as they are a conversation starter and can be worn in many instances. Word about CWRP will move fast with the ability to be placed on vehicles all throughout Central Wisconsin. These bumper stickers were designed to be simple and easy to read from another car, while promoting resiliency with catch phrases (Figure 20.2). 5. STICKERS We created many different design variations for stickers. (Figure 21.1) These stickers can be used in a variety of ways which is a great way to get the Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project’s name out into the community.
